Introducing TJ

Hi, my name is TJ and I'm 11 years old.  Welcome to my blog - Growing up with TJ.
In my blog I'll take you on a journey through my life, discussing what I enjoy, what I don't like, what I love, places I've been, people I've met and all the stuff in-between.
It is an exciting time for me as I'm starting secondary school in September.  I'm feeling nervous as I heard it's a strict school with uniform and stationary checks! However, I am looking forward to meeting new people.  I'm also lucky because a lot of my friends from primary school are going there. I can't wait to keep you updated on my journey through secondary school.

Here are some of the things I do in my spare time:

1) Athletics, I am a member of Halesowen Athletics Club and I train every Monday and Tuesday.
My ambition is to be a world class sprinter.  My inspirations are Shelly-Ann Fraser, Dena Asher-Smith and Usain Bolt. I'm currently in training for a competition at the Dell stadium on the 26 of August.
 Good luck to me!!

2}I really enjoy cooking. Sometimes I go to cooking classes at the Kid s Kitchen in Digbeth where we cook fantastic dishes and desserts. As part of my summer school challenge, I have to cook a meal for my family, which I am looking forward to doing.  I also bake with my aunty, who is a fantastic cook.

I also love eating out, it’s a treat that me and my mother do together.
17.08.18 we visited The Alchemist Kids meal at The Alchemist https://thealchemist.uk.com/venues/birmingham/

3}Drama. I am a member of the Young Rep drama group, which I attend every Saturday to learn new drama and theatre skills. Last year I participated in The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe at the Crescent Theatre. This year I will be auditioning for a part in Alice in Wonderland.

4}Guitar. This summer I did my grade one exam and passed with a distinction. I'm hoping to do just as well in my grade two exam.

Goodbye for now.

Dubai!!

Wow, what a week I’ve had. On Sunday the 28th of October, I left England for a holiday to Dubai. My mother, God Mother, God sister – Maya and my aunty, all met at Heathrow Airport, we were due to fly from Heathrow with Emirates airline all the way to Dubai! It was a seven-hour flight and Emirates are a fabulous airline.  https://www.emirates.com The food was great, the movies were great, the staff were very friendly and the female flight attendants wore a very interesting looking hat. My mom said it was one of the best flights she’s ever been on. We finally landed in Dubai, once we cleared customers and collected our luggage we made our way outside and boy was it hot, yay! We got a taxi to our hotel, we were staying in the Rove Hotel Downtown.  https://www.rovehotels.com/hotel/rove-downtown/ The hotel was really nice and modern. We settled in our rooms, unpacked some of our things and went across the road to explore the Dubai Mall. The mall was huge, we had ...

Braces!

Hey guys, It’s your girl TJC here and today I have some good news and bad news. The bad news is that I have to get four of my teeth extracted, this is because I have too many teeth in my mouth 😩.  So after I get my teeth extracted I am going to have braces fitted. I will have my retainers fitted on the 4 th of March 2019.   I have been on the waiting list for a very long time - about two years, so I’m happy to get the process started.  The good news is that my school has given me a Spring challenge. It’s a bunch of activities that have to be completed by the Easter half term break. We get to choose three activities. I will talk you through the three that I have chosen.  The three that I will be doing are: read an autobiography about someone who inspires me, the second one is to cook an entire meal for the family and the third one is to take some clothes to a clothes bank. The inspirational autobiography I have chosen to read is entitled “Hope in ...

Happy Christmas!

At last the Christmas holidays are finally here. My school broke up a week before most schools so I got 3 weeks off. YIPEE!!! I have now completed all my Christmas shopping.  My Aunty Kizzy came from London to spend the Christmas holiday with us.  On Christmas Eve we made a gingerbread house that she had brought. For my Christmas dinner, I had turkey, beef, mash potatoes and purple cabbage. It was delicious and as for the drinks they were refreshing. For dessert, I had some of the gingerbread house that my aunt and I had made (or at least decorated).  It tasted almost as good as it looked!  My uncle and cousins came round to see us in the evening; this was great because I don’t get to see them that often.  We tried playing a game of hide and seek upstairs – not the b...
